FIRST EDITION of the first translation of the complete work of Tacitus. Although printed after the edition by Manuel Sueyro, printed in 1613, Alamo de Barrientos, as he himself indicates in the text "Al Lector", "in the same way he wanted to publish them, for the year of one thousand and five years and ninety and four" , but the censorship, handed over to António de Covarruvias, took many years. Still, even after Sueyro's edition, the translator decided to go ahead with the publication of his edition "which at least will give esteem to the author and see that so many seek him […]; it will serve the comparison of the two , for the balance of both; showing, that in vano hanb been of those who have been translated, and that of the two are menester to understand." The translation is based on the editions of Justus Lipsius, beginning with the life of Tacitus by this author, followed by the Annals, Histories, Of the Sítio, Customs and Peoples of Germania and the Life of Júlio Agrícola. At the end there is an alphabetical table with the aphorisms, ordered by theme. Very rare.
