REGRA statutos [et] diffinções da ordem de Sanctiaguo. Setubal: Por mi Herman de Kempis alemã, 1509.
[]3, a-p6, q8, r-s6, t5; [3], CXV ff.; 260 mm.
THE ONLY EDITION PRINTED IN SETÚBAL IN THE 16TH CENTURY and the oldest known printed by Herman de Kempis in Portugal. According to D. Manuel, it is not surprising that this first edition of the Rule of the Order of Santiago was printed in Setúbal, given the proximity to Palmela, headquarters of the Order at that time, with Grand Master D. Jorge, and it is likely that Hermand and Kempis had been called to print it after the General Chapter of 1508. We do not dwell on the importance of the Military Orders in the History of Portugal, in particular the Order of Santiago. It is, therefore, a very important document of our history. Very rare and important.
