French translation of this extremely important work on the History of India that took the author around 12 years to complete, during which he was in Lisbon to gather the necessary documents for its preparation. Enormously successful at the time, as the various editions and translations attest, it also makes references to Brazil which, according to Borba de Moraes, it describes with great precision. The second part is a compilation of 43 letters, many of which are related to Japan and are an important document for the first phase of the relationship between the West and the country of the Rising Sun, presenting the first reliable accounts of politics, culture and geography. Very rare.
