First edition. From the amazing series of Routes written by D. João de Castro, 4th viceroy, this Purple Sea Route, as it is also known, was prepared after his participation in the expedition against the Turkish fleet in Suez and “constitutes the last piece of the remarkable scientific work with which he valued, in the fields of nautical astronomy and cosmography, the history of Portuguese expansion” (Veríssimo Serrão, III, pp. 125-126). Rare.
