FIRST EDITION of the first major study of Fra Mauro's famous map, a work by Placido Zurla (1789-1834) who belonged to the same order as Mauro and in which he was his librarian, a role that gave him the opportunity to study that marvel in depth of global cartography. Illustrated with a reproduction of the map on a fold-out sheet and with a full-page engraving. Rare.
