D. Luís da Câmara Leme (1819-1904) was a retired Division General, belonged to the King's Council, Minister of State, Peer of the Kingdom, Deputy, etc. He completed the Army School with distinction in 1844 and served under the Duke of Saldanha of whom he was a friend and to whom he dedicates this work. It was during his government that D. Luís da Câmara Leme was Minister, handling the Navy portfolio. This work of his, preceded by a Critical Judgment by Latino Coelho, was well received both in Portugal and in Brazil, the country that acquired the necessary copies to distribute to army officers. Illustrated in the text and separately in the second volume. Rare.
