FIRST EDITION of this beloved book about China. Written between 1650 and 1654 by one of the most influential Spanish personalities of the time. Achieving great success throughout Europe, the work was written based on epistolary reports that the author received from missions established in China. Divided into 32 chapters, it narrates the conquest of China by the Tartars and the fall of the Ming Dynasty, dedicating two chapters to Japan. The map that illustrates the work, which rarely appears, represents the entire Empire of China and the westernmost part of Japan. Above it represents three soldiers on horseback and four on foot. Rare.
