VERY CURIOUS MANUSCRIPT by a French officer who was in Portugal, in the Algarve, at the service of the Count of Sarzedas. The text consists of a treatise on arithmetic, geometry and trigonometry, followed by a treatise on fortification, superbly illustrated and with enormous rigor and detail, a treatise on perspective, notes on geography, a treatise on the organization of musketeers, a treatise on on coats of arms and, finally, notes on the history of Portugal, which includes a section on Portuguese epigraphy and reproduces three tombstones dedicated to the god Endovélicus.
