Beautiful collection of 30 prints representing the main cities of Europe, highlighting the beautiful prints dedicated to Porto and Lisbon, six for each of the cities and with the following titles: Porto: 1. The Mouth of the Douro from Massarellos; 2. Oporto from the Monte d'Arrabida; 3. Oporto from Quay of Villa Nova; 4. Oporto from Villa Nova; 5. The Sutomhouse Quay; 6. Oporto from Fontaínhas. Lisbon: 1. Belem Castle; 2. Convent of St. Geronymo, Belem; 3. Lisbon from the Rua de San Miguel; 4. Lisbon from the Chapel Hill of Nossa Senhora do Monte; 5. Lisbon,, The Largo do Pelourinho; 6. Lisbon from Almada. It also has 6 engravings from Gibraltar, 6 engravings from Edinburgh, 1 from Rotterdam, 2 from Amsterdam, 2 from Brussels and 1 from Antwerp. Robert Batty was born in 1789. Having begun his medical studies, he abandoned them to enlist in the army serving in the battles of Waterloo and the Pyrenees. As an amateur artist, he traveled around Europe between 1822 and 1833, leaving several paintings and publishing a few albums, including the present one. Rare.
