According to Inocêncio, the translator was a colonel in the second infantry regiment of Elvas square. Born in Lisbon, approximately in 1730, he became interested in literature and science, having published some texts. In particular, he wrote a description of the earthquake, as well as collaborated with a Frenchman to design some engravings published in the work 'Recueil des plus belles ruines de Lisbonne, causées par le tremblement et par le feu du 1.er novembre 1755'.
